Helping Our Clients Prosper and Grow
Before there was even a world wide web, back in 1991, Dewey Davis-Thompson helped businesses and people by teaching them how to use email, telnet and BBS networks. Our first website projects came online in 1996, and since then, the Internet and our clients’ needs have evolved dramatically. Internet Adept helped them to grow, often training our own replacements as the Internet became ubiquitous and more useful.
Clients like Collman and Karsky Architects, WMNF 88.5 FM radio, INTI Publishing, the Tampa Housing Authority, Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, and others, hired full time Web design staff, and we trained them to manage their own sites. Internet Adept helps small businesses to grow and has helped larger companies like the William R. Hough & Company, Planet Partnership and Smith & Associates to meet their online goals with customized training, consulting, programming and hosting services.
Helping Our Community
We believe in giving back to our community, and our first major project in 1997 was to help Tampa Bay’s WMNF 88.5 FM community radio to broadcast worldwide over the internet at WMNF.org.
Internet Adept also provided free services to Tampa Theatre for a decade and currently offers a 50 percent discount to all artists and community oriented groups. In this way, Internet Adept has helped many local and national organizations including the Tampa Bay Children’s Choir, Tampa Guardian Ad Litem, Healthy Start Coalition, American Lymphoma Foundation, Voices for Children, the Sustany Foundation, Green Florida, Tampa Bay Business Guild, Winter Pride Tampa Bay, the Asian Neighborhood Family Association, and many other diverse organzations.
Student Interns and Volunteers
Internet Adept has mentored numerous student interns. In recent years we have worked with students from the Center For Advanced Technology magnet high school in Pinellas County, Florida, and the University of South Florida in Tampa. Internet Adept has also worked with American Stage Theatre to supervise volunteers working on the American Stage site.
Our History
Tampa Bay’s first Web consultant, Dewey Davis-Thompson is the original Internet Adept. He learned to use computers as a journalist in the 1980s and learned to use the Internet at Florida’s New College in 1990. In the 90s his articles on the Internet appeared frequently in many publications, including the Weekly Planet (Cyber City:" Tampa Gets Wired," "The Digital Divide," "Cyber Spies").
Dewey’s company, Computer Tutors of Tampa, taught Surfing 101 classes at Tampa’s first cyber café, The Infohaus. In 1997 he founded Internet Adept, Inc., to build sites for clients and to teach people how to do business online.
Since then, the Internet has exploded, bubbled and re-adjusted itself. But honest work ethics, operational flexibility and genuine talent have kept the Internet Adept team busy, continuing to satisfy the needs of our growing roster of clients.

“WMNF will always be grateful to Dewey for his generous gift to WMNF 88.5 FM community radio, our online broadcast.”
Vicki Santa
Former Station Manager
In 1997 Dewey Davis-Thompson built a site for WMNF and told the station staff about broadcasting on the Web. With a grant, he was able to purchase equipment and bandwidth and volunteered to do the work. Since then, WMNF has hired a full time Web guru, and Dewey continues to assist as a consultant and volunteer.
